Identify which hours need which factor

Overtime pay computation in the Philippines requires a reliable hours record. Check the employee’s coverage, schedule, actual hours and the day type. Do not assume Sunday is everyone’s rest day.

The examples below assume a covered private-sector employee and an eight-hour day. They do not cover every special arrangement or exception.

Ordinary overtime and rest-day overtime

Ordinary-day overtime generally uses the hourly basic rate × 125% × overtime hours. Rest-day work generally uses 130% for the first eight hours; overtime on that day uses the hourly basic rate × 130% × 130%.

At an illustrative basic hourly rate of ₱100, two ordinary overtime hours equal ₱250. Two rest-day overtime hours equal ₱338. Those figures cover the overtime hours only. Add the properly calculated first-eight-hour pay separately.

Night differential is an additional layer

For covered employees, night shift differential is at least 10% for hours worked between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. Apply it to the applicable hourly rate.

At ₱100 an hour, two ordinary night hours carry a ₱20 night premium above their ₱200 base. Two ordinary overtime hours that also fall in the night window total ₱275. ₱100 × 1.25 × 1.1 × 2. Count only the hours inside the night window.

Avoid these double-counting mistakes

Do not apply the ordinary overtime factor to every day. Do not treat the night premium as a full additional hourly wage. Split hours at the boundaries and label each component.

Use reviewed timelogs and requests. Investigate missing records fairly rather than assuming no work occurred. OLi HR can support configured calculations, but the setup and payroll output still need review. Start with the holiday guide if the date is a holiday.
